Winner 2023
We really enjoyed the beautiful layering in the music. It felt like the various moving parts fit together like pieces of a puzzle and everything was perfectly balanced.

World upside-down

Italian clarinet player Federico Calcagno composes to discover a new perspective on today’s volatile world and to find new opportunities. On his album Mundus Inversus, the existing social hierarchy is reversed and seemingly impossible things become possible. His music is inspired by this concept, especially by the bizarre creations of the artist Hieronymus Bosch and the idea of the “Hanged Man” from the tarot, which allows an upside-down view of the world.
